Unlit grows from a fascination with texture and movement, how a pleat can feel both soft and structured, how something gentle can still hold its shape. Inspired by the geometric clarity of mid-century modern interiors, we saw an opportunity to bring softness back into that language without disrupting its order. In seeking to express the fluidity of fabric through the rigidity of sustainable form, we realized light was the essential medium, leading to the beginning of our first table lamp collection.

Over time, the poppy became a quiet reference, beautiful, straightforward, calm in its presence, and quietly resilient. That’s also when we decided to pivot from traditional manufacturing. Instead, we use contemporary tools to shape Poppy’s silhouette, and by using sustainable plant-based PLA and recycled PLA, we are able to craft and finish each lamp in our Montclair studio. We hope each Poppy becomes a sculptural presence wherever it sits, making it a distinctive statement that quietly exists within the space, whether lit or unlit.
